What Makes Kaci Different?

Classroom Experience

Kaci was a classroom teacher for 8 years. She spent all 8 years in Title 1 schools. Kaci spent three years as a 2nd Grade teacher, two years as a 3rd Grade teacher, two years as a K-5 Reading and Math interventionist, and one year as a K-5 Sci-Tech teacher (technology and engineering practices). Kaci spent the majority of her career in various leadership roles as well.

Solution Focused

Kaci works very hard to find the solutions. Kaci consistently seeks out all opinions before making a final decision. She looks for different perspectives, ideas, and alternatives when tasked with an issue. Kaci focuses on finding a solution that is best for most, if not all, people. It's important to Kaci to look beyond her personal interests to find the solution that best fits the problem.

Business Savvy

Kaci runs the "back end" for two businesses. She understands just how important it is to have processes that are efficient.

Kaci has a knack for developing procedures and pathways for clients, business partners, and employees that serve them. She consistently re-evaluates her work and seeks feedback to ensure she is on the right track.

"Kaci doesn’t shy away from answering questions or addressing conflicts. She has her own thoughts and doesn’t have to build upon others’ thinking. She also doesn’t answer questions by simply saying “I’ve already answered that,” or “I’m just gonna keep doing what I’ve been doing.” Even if that is part of her answer, she goes on to explain herself."

"It's obvious, but it’s deeper than people initially think. She is an educator. She didn’t just work with kids for a couple hours a week, she worked with them for 40+ hours a week, from all diverse backgrounds, within multiple content areas, all while helping the school function as a living and breathing group of people. People think teachers are just in charge of their classroom and that’s it, but there are SO many other things that are required of educators that no one sees. She gets that."

How did I get here?

After nearly a decade of teaching, I left the classroom to raise my daughter. However, as I considered her future, I recognized (like so many parents) that public education is no longer the reliable option it once was. I love our public education system, but there is much work to be done. When asked if I would run for the D51 School Board, I embraced the chance to continue serving the students, staff, and community I love so much.

I believe that every parent should feel proud and confident about sending their child to our schools. D51 should be a place where we can come together to do what's best for ALL our children. As a mother, teacher, and community member, I've never backed down from a challenge. As a member of the board, I will do what it takes to help move D51 forward!

Nothing is truly impossible. When we listen, understand, and balance our perspectives with the perspectives of others, we can "Find The Yes."

We can do this together, I know it.

Who Votes?

In D51, all registered voters residing in Mesa County (minus Debeque and Plateau Valley) are eligible to vote in the 2025 D51 School Board Election. I am required to reside in a certain area of Mesa County to ensure that all areas of the valley are represented on the Board of Education. I reside in District D which is between 29rd and 31rd (though the exact definition is more concrete and can be found here) this is the general area of town where District D is represented.
